How to scan a barcode on your phone
To scan a barcode on your phone, open a barcode scanner app, allow camera access, and place the entire code in view. Hold the phone steady until the value appears. Barcode X supports barcode and QR scanning; this website is a download and help site, not an online camera scanner.

Scan a printed barcode
Install Barcode X from the store for your device. Open barcode scanning and grant camera access when prompted. Keep the bars and the clear space at both ends visible. Start a little farther away, then adjust the distance until the label is sharp.
- Open barcode scanning in the app.
- Point the camera at one complete barcode under even lighting.
- Wait for a result and compare it with the printed digits.
- For multiple items, create a Batch Scan file instead of repeatedly starting a single scan.
Why a barcode may not scan
Glare, damaged bars, very small printing, and a camera held too close can prevent recognition. Tilt a glossy label slightly, clean the camera lens, and move away enough to let it focus. If you selected a format or length filter, check that the label matches that mode.
Scanning is not the same as product lookup
A successful scan reads the value encoded in a barcode. It does not by itself supply a product price, stock availability, or expiry date. Barcode X is presented here as a scanner and record-management app, not a product-price database.
Keep several results together
Use named batch files to organize scans. Choose how duplicates are handled before collecting a batch. The free allowance includes 100 batch scans; Premium includes unlimited batch scanning and Excel export.
