Batch barcode scanning with automatic counting
A batch barcode scanner collects successive scans in one file. In Barcode X, Auto-count combines repeat scans of the same code and increases its quantity. Other modes keep repeats separately, ask how to handle them, or discard them.

Choose the right duplicate mode
Auto-count is useful when several items carry the same code and should contribute to a total. Keep duplicates separately when each scan should remain a distinct record. Ask about duplicates lets you decide when a repeat is detected. Discard duplicates is useful for collecting a list of distinct codes.
A simple stock-check workflow
Use one file per area or session so you can review the scope later. Barcode X records scans; it does not automatically know your expected inventory or reconcile a warehouse database.
When your counts are ready, follow the scan-to-Excel export steps to review and save your results.
- Name a batch after the shelf or task.
- Choose Auto-count for repeated-item quantities.
- Scan each item deliberately and review the running quantities.
- Add location notes and export to Excel with Premium when finished.
Avoid accidental repeat counts
Move the camera to the next label after a scan is recorded. Review quantities before finishing the batch; the intended quantity depends on what you physically scan. If a label contains several codes, use an appropriate format filter to reduce unrelated results.
Find the batch again
Batch files can be searched, renamed, pinned, or deleted, and scanned content can be searched too. Records stay on the device. The free allowance includes 100 batch scans, while unlimited batch scanning requires Premium.
