Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Barcode X (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the App.

1. Information We Process

When you submit in-app feedback, we receive your message, selected screenshots, account identifier and email address, app version, operating system version, and device model to investigate and reply. Screenshots are compressed on your device before upload and stored privately in Cloudflare R2; feedback records are stored in Cloudflare D1. Only you and authorized administrators can access your feedback. Scan records are not automatically included. You can delete feedback in the App. Deleting your account removes access immediately; associated attachments are removed by scheduled cleanup.

The App uses your device camera only to scan barcodes and QR codes. Camera images are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. Scan results, generated codes, scan history, and photos that you choose to use in the App are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, use reviewer sign-in, or purchase a subscription, we process the following information to provide account and subscription features:

2. How We Use Information

We use this information only to:

3. Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your scan results or local photos for advertising, profiling, or tracking. We share information only with service providers needed to provide the features you choose to use:

Third-party SDKs used for authentication and on-device barcode recognition may process technical data such as app and device identifiers, SDK usage, performance, and diagnostic information to operate and improve their services. We do not use these SDKs for advertising tracking. On-device barcode recognition does not upload your camera images or scan history to our membership service.

4. Permissions

The App requests camera access to scan codes and may request access to photos or media when you choose to scan an image, import an image, save a generated image, or export a result. You can deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings; some related features may then be unavailable.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Local scan history, generated codes, and photos remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. If you signed in, you can delete your account from the App's account settings. This deletes the account, membership, and device binding data held by our membership service and deletes the associated Firebase account. Deleting an account does not cancel an active subscription. Manage or cancel it through the store where it was purchased (Google Play or your Apple Account subscription settings).

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above.
